In just six months, our Software Engineering Bootcamp, offered in partnership with Skills Union, can help transform you into a fully capable software engineer ready to spearhead exciting, user-friendly software projects.

Skills Union is a digital learning company that works with leading universities to deliver intensive, career-focused bootcamps to set students up for success in the tech industry. Skills Union’s curriculum is developed by leaders in the software engineering field and the course is guided by faculty with real-world experience and a passion for online learning.

This course equips students with the skills to become independent engineers with the skills and experience to build software themselves. Designed by industry professionals, students will graduate with a comprehensive full-stack skillset to be able to build both front and back end software, as well as a thorough understanding of the product lifecycle.

COURSE CONTENT

This 24-week bootcamp consists of both asynchronous and synchronous content - enabling you to guide your own studies while getting support from faculty and peers. While most of your studying will be done independently, 3 hours of weekly live online sessions ensure all of your questions get answered and that you benefit from our faculty’s immense experience.

Skills Union’s software engineering curriculum is based on an active learning approach with crucial attention to practical applications to empower students to learn independently and collaborate with peers. First, students are introduced to examples from which they will learn before practicing programming individually and in groups with practice labs. The foundations of programming, such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript foundations are covered in addition to advanced full-stack applications using the same technology of the world’s leading tech companies. Our bootcamp is comprised of the following units:

● Prep: As our Software Engineering Bootcamp is intense by design, we want to ensure all students have basic knowledge of coding and front-end languages by onboarding day to succeed in the program. You will have access to this material upon registering for the program.
● Front End Software Engineering: Learn to build the components of a website that users will see and interact with. Here, you’ll focus on the key components of the client experience, such as the fundamentals of Javascript, CSS, and APIs.
● Back End Software Engineering: This unit is focused on building the server side of websites and apps, so that products you build have the data they need. In addition to tools such as Python and SQL, you’ll learn the fundamentals of working with a team to drive projects forward.
● Career Pathways and Portfolio Accelerator: After you learn the essentials for a successful software engineer, we’ll help you look into various career options and create a compelling, field-specific CV hiring managers will love. You will also be able to compile all of the practical projects you’ve completed in the bootcamp into a professional software engineer portfolio.
